Committee Dialogue

In recent years, the rapid digitization of financial services in the Philippines has accelerated financial inclusion and innovation across the banking and fintech landscape. However, this transformation has also heightened the risks posed by cyber threats, necessitating robust cybersecurity frameworks and greater coordination between the public and private sectors.

As the fintech ecosystem evolves, regulators are also exploring the development of sector-specific cybersecurity standards. These initiatives aim to ensure that both legacy financial institutions and emerging fintech players are better equipped to safeguard customer data and preserve trust in the digital economy.

In line with these developments, the ECCP, in partnership with its ICT Committee and Competency Hub, is organizing an Information Session on Cybersecurity in Digital Banking and Fintech. With the theme "Securing the Future: Strengthening Cybersecurity in the Philippines' Digital Banking and Fintech Landscape," this session aims to:

• Provide an overview of the current cybersecurity regulatory landscape for digital banking and fintech in the Philippines;
• Clarify government's latest guidelines on cybersecurity risk management and their implications for compliance and operations;
• Highlight cross-sector initiatives for improving cyber resilience, threat intelligence sharing, and capacity-building;
• Offer a platform for dialogue between the public sector, financial institutions, fintech companies, and academia on emerging cybersecurity threats and mitigation strategies.

This event seeks to foster greater collaboration and shared responsibility across key stakeholders from government, industry, and the academe in securing the Philippines' digital financial infrastructure as the sector continues to grow.
